Coast / Estuary

Coastal systems are among the most dynamic physical systems on earth and are subject to a large variety of forces. The morphodynamic changes occurring to coastlines worldwide are of great interest and importance. These changes occur as a result of the erosion of sediments, its subsequent transport as bed load or suspended load, and eventual deposition.

Estuaries are partly enclosed water bodies that have an open connection to the coast. Estuaries generally have one or more branching channels, intertidal mudflats and/or salt marshes. Intertidal areas are of high ecological importance and trap sediments (sands, silts, clays and organic matter).
Within the Delft3D modelling package a large variation of coastal and estuarine physical and chemical processes can be simulated. These include waves, tidal propagation, wind- or wave-induced water level setup, flow induced by salinity or temperature gradients, sand and mud transport, water quality and changing bathymetry (morphology). Delft3D can also be used operationally e.g. storm, surge and algal bloom forecasting.

On this discussion page you can post questions, research discussions or just share your experience about modelling coastal and/or estuarine systems with Delft3D FM.

Dear all,

I've been trying to compile delft3d on Windows 7 for a few tags (6906, 6864, 5389, etc). The softwares I used were Visual Studio Professional 2010, Intel Parellel 2013. I always couldn't generate the 'flow2d3d.dll' in the 'flow2d3d/bin'. For compiling, I used "Release, x64". I attached the solution and errors here. Could you please help me to check what happened? Thank you!

Hi llberyl,

Can you try with the source code checked out in a directory without white spaces in the path?

Adri

Dear Adri,

Thank you for your reply! I removed the spaces in the directories and after read relevant posts, I managed to remove most of the errors using the latest Tag 7426 and can use it to run models. However, I still have a few errors for compilation as well as animation creation as listed below. I also attached the compilation output for your reference. Thank you!

my computer conditions: x64, windows 7, MS VS2010, Intel parallel studio XE 2013.

1. Streamtest Project
"Error 287 error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'stream.h': No such file or directory D:\Work\Softwares\Delft3D_Installation_package\tags\7426\src\utils_lgpl\deltares_common\tests\03_streams_test\streamtest.cpp 38 1 02-streamtest"

I tried to link the file 'stream.h'. However, I couldn't find where is the file 'stream.h'. Could you please let me know where i can find such file?

2. Smalltest Project
"Error 288 error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'stream.h': No such file or directory
D:\Work\Softwares\Delft3D_Installation_package\tags\7426\src\utils_lgpl\deltares_common\tests\02_streams_smalltest\smalltest.cpp 33 1 01-smalltest"
(same as Error 287)

3. System_info Project
"Error 290 error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: int __cdecl CpuInfo::GetCores(void)" (?GetCores@CpuInfo@@QEAAHXZ) D:\Work\Softwares\Delft3D_Installation_package\tags\7426\src\utils_lgpl\deltares_common\tests\09_system_info\main.obj system_info"

"Error 291 error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: unsigned __int64 __cdecl CpuInfo::GetClockSpeed(void)" (?GetClockSpeed@CpuInfo@@QEAA_KXZ) D:\Work\Softwares\Delft3D_Installation_package\tags\7426\src\utils_lgpl\deltares_common\tests\09_system_info\main.obj system_info"

"Error 292 error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: unsigned __int64 __cdecl MemInfo::GetTotalMemSize(void)" (?GetTotalMemSize@MemInfo@@QEAA_KXZ) D:\Work\Softwares\Delft3D_Installation_package\tags\7426\src\utils_lgpl\deltares_common\tests\09_system_info\main.obj system_info"

"Error 293 error LNK1120: 3 unresolved externals D:\Work\Softwares\Delft3D_Installation_package\tags\7426\src\utils_lgpl\deltares_common\tests\09_system_info\bin\Release\system_info.exe system_info"

I didn't find any previous relevant solution to this. Could you please help me to check on it?

LL

Hi Liang,

You are right that these additional programs do not build. But you don't need them. You can skip these compilations. When (re)building the complete solution, these programs will be skipped automatically.

Adri
