My applications are primarily on open coast, where wave action dominates.<br />I am curious what effect the CREF values have.. some examples I have seen use CREF to be equal to the bed density(e.g. 1.6E3), while others use much higher values (~1E5). How does this parameter translate to a physical understanding? Also, do you recommend any particular settings for certain types of modeling? <br /><br /><br />Thank you in advance,<br />ShawnShawn Harrison2013-01-22T03:27:52ZRE: Optimal machine build for D3D?Shawn Harrisonhttps://oss.deltares.nl/c/message_boards/find_message?p_l_id=1806675&messageId=2314812013-01-10T20:36:44Z2013-01-10T20:36:44ZThank you for the tips Adri. I will keep that in mind. <br /><br />Any other tips? E.g. Intel i7 vs Xeon? Of course, I enjoy heavy matlab computing as well.. and want graphics capabilities to make fast, intricate plots (and dual monitors).<br /><br />I'm curious if any one has suggestions about recent builds or hardware specifications particularly well-suited for running fast, stable D3D simulations. <br />Mainly, I use D3D for morphological modeling (FLOW-WAVE coupling with sediment updating). <br /><br />Thanks in advance for your advice,<br />ShawnShawn Harrison2013-01-08T18:30:27ZRE: Linux GUI installShawn Harrisonhttps://oss.deltares.nl/c/message_boards/find_message?p_l_id=1806675&messageId=1974652012-10-17T07:07:58Z2012-10-17T07:07:58ZThat's weird Drew... I just had the same thing happen on my GUI. I'm on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.. and the GUI doesn't work properly anyway. But once you get the main GUI to open, the FLOW GUI normally works fine.. <br />until now. I had the same error: <br /><br /><div class="lfr-code"><table><tbody><tr><td class="line-numbers">1</td><td class="lines"><div class="line">user@host:~$ $D3D_HOME/$ARCH/flow/bin/flow_gui</div></td></tr><tr><td class="line-numbers">2</td><td class="lines"><div class="line">Warning: I18NOpenFile: Could not open file flow_gui.uid - MrmNOT_FOUND</div></td></tr><tr><td class="line-numbers">3</td><td class="lines"><div class="line"><br /></div></td></tr><tr><td class="line-numbers">4</td><td class="lines"><div class="line">fatal: FATAL ERROR: MSG 0x01530006 [CAT 5/3 NUM 6 ]</div></td></tr><tr><td class="line-numbers">5</td><td class="lines"><div class="line">Category: Correctly requested operation failed (Failed to find)</div></td></tr><tr><td class="line-numbers">6</td><td class="lines"><div class="line">Function: xvt_app_create </div></td></tr><tr><td class="line-numbers">7</td><td class="lines"><div class="line">File: /home/build_user/build570/dsc/src/src/ptk/xm/xxinit.c line: 136</div></td></tr></tbody></table></div><br /><br />I wonder what it means.Shawn Harrison2012-10-17T07:07:58ZRE: Linux GUI installShawn Harrisonhttps://oss.deltares.nl/c/message_boards/find_message?p_l_id=1806675&messageId=1948162012-10-10T07:10:29Z2012-10-10T07:10:29ZHi Drew,<br /><br />It sounds like your files are not being executed by the GUI. <br /><br />Question: Do the D3D binaries exist in the location that the GUI is expecting them? E.g. Do the files deltares_hydro.tcl, deltares_hydro.exe, and d_hydro.exe (along with many other files) exist in the directory /opt/Delft3d/intel/flow/bin/ ?<br /><br />If they are, are their permissions such that they can be executed? ( to check do a the 'ls -l ' command on that directory)... Sometimes these files can get moved around and lose privileges for you to use them. <br /><br />ShawnShawn Harrison2012-10-10T07:10:29ZRE: Linux GUI installShawn Harrisonhttps://oss.deltares.nl/c/message_boards/find_message?p_l_id=1806675&messageId=1941372012-10-08T21:39:32Z2012-10-08T21:36:26ZHi Drew,<br /><br />Skip the dongle install on Linux... <br /><br />You will have to convert the folder structure of the D3D binaries to the GUI format.. the tool to do so is included.<br /><br />I had a few things pop up when I worked through the problem before:<br />http://oss.deltares.nl/web/opendelft3d/general/-/message_boards/view_message/162132<br /><br />Might be useful. <br /><br />Good luck!<br /><br />ShawnShawn Harrison2012-10-08T21:36:26ZRE: Delft3D-WAVE moduleShawn Harrisonhttps://oss.deltares.nl/c/message_boards/find_message?p_l_id=1806675&messageId=1934442012-10-05T22:39:09Z2012-10-05T22:39:09ZHi Mladen, <br /><br />That's great. Have fun modelling!<br /><br />Now, since that problem has been resolved, you should mark this thread as answered so that others looking for a similar solution can find it. <br />To do so, at the top right of one of the messages click on the button that says "Mark as an Answer". <br /><br />Cheers,<br />ShawnShawn Harrison2012-10-05T22:39:09ZRE: Delft3D-WAVE moduleShawn Harrisonhttps://oss.deltares.nl/c/message_boards/find_message?p_l_id=1806675&messageId=1927292012-10-03T21:29:31Z2012-10-03T21:29:31ZHi Mladen, <br /><br />Yes the WAVE module works well.. <br /><br />What platform are you running?<br /><br />Did you make sure that the wave.exe was created after the make? It should be in the .../bin directory along with d_hydro.exe, deltares_hydro.tcl, mormerge.exe and a bunch of other files (depending on which version of the trunk/tag you are using). <br /><br />Are you trying to use the GUI? If wave.exe was created, and you are only trying to launch it with the GUI, there is a chance that the directory structure is not how the GUI expects it. E.g. the linux GUI expects a different directory structure than the newer (5.0.XX) source code creates. <br /><br />Please advise your current situation for a more detailed solution. <br /><br />Thanks,<br />ShawnShawn Harrison2012-10-03T21:29:31Z
