Delft-FEWS international user meeting 2021
11 Nov 2021
- 15 Nov 2021
Via Microsoft Teams
Annual user meeting for all Delft-FEWS users.
For the 2021 edition of the Delft-FEWS International User Days, we invite members of the user community to share their experiences with Extreme Weather. For us as users- and developers of early warning systems extreme events are at the core of our work. Climate change will lead to more extreme weather in the future. We encourage user stories and are interested in practical lessons that you have learned, and what steps you have taken to prepare your organization- and forecasting system in the best manner for the future.
3 ONLINE SESSIONS
The Delft-FEWS International User Days will be held in 3 online sessions:
08 November 2021 – 14:00 – 18:00 CET (Delft time, UTC+1)
11 November 2021 – 08:00 – 12:00 CET
15 November 2021 – 14:00 – 18:00 CET
Through the lens of past- and future extreme weather events, we will focus on the following components:
Delft-FEWS in Extreme Practice
User stories of extreme events: forecasting and decision-making in crisis situations. What are the lessons learned?
End-users and operators
Focusing on the people and impact side: training, capacity building, and making forecasts that are fit-for-purpose.
Delft-FEWS Developments
Focusing on Delft-FEWS capabilities and back-end technology: Software environments, cloud technology, web-viewers, model couplings and model adapters, scripting and data management surrounding Delft-FEWS systems.
