How good were our models? What did we add as forecasters in quality? What is the quality of our upcoming forecast? Questions we ask ourselves and are asked by our customers, the users, the public.

To get those answers one needs to examine the forecasts to the reality, the measurements. All kind of developments take place to get the metrics of quality. Sometimes in FEWS itself, sometimes outside, or some hybrid construction. Most common use is validation in off-line mode like monthly reports. Another way is the online quality validation to be used directly in the next forecast.
