Delft-FEWS User Days Australia: a successful 5th edition

The 5th edition of the Delft-FEWS User Days Australia were held at the Bureau (of Meteorology) in Melbourne from April 30th to the 4th of May 2018. A very interesting and intensive week containing a 2 day Delft-FEWS Basic Configuration Course, a 2 day Delft-FEWS User Conference and a 1 day Workshop called 'from raindrop to roadblock'.

Around 20 Delft-FEWS users were trained by Simone De Kleermaeker and Gerben Boot (Deltares) and Steve Wang (Seqwater) into the basics of configuring Delft-FEWS.

The programme of the Delft-FEWS User Days consisted of very interesting presentations of (the road to) Delft-FEWS implementations in Australia, India and China. Also the latest developments and roadmap features were presented. The User Days were well visited by experienced and new Delft-FEWS Users, consultants and universities. This interesting and interactive week ended with a workshop around the forecasting & warning chain (from flood forecasting, flood warning communication to actual flood measures) and a demonstration of the Delft-FEWS Water Coach training tool by two teams for BoM forecasters, delivering a forecast under time pressure.

The event was very well organised by the Bureau, Seqwater and the Deltares team. The event dinner was sponsored by Seqwater and Deltares. An evaluation was sent out to gather experiences and ideas for next year's event (draft date: 1-2 May 2019).

Please visit the event page for more impressions and downloadable presentations.
