I am one of the Australian Bureau of Meteorology's (BOM) National Flood Operations Managers with responsibility for the delivery of flood forecasts and warnings for Australia.  I have a strong commitment to using my hydrological expertise to deliver flood forecasts and warnings that save lives and reduce the social and economic impact of flooding.

From 2012-15, I led the BOM's implementation of Delft-FEWS, which supports flood and streamflow forecasting services for the whole of Australia. The BOM's Delft-FEWS system has around 10,000 rainfall and river gauges, and it integrates hydrological models with rainfall forecasts from Australian and international weather models, as well as coastal forecasts from the BOM's ocean model.

I have been greatly influenced by meeting and listening to the stories and experiences of communities impacted by flooding.  This has focused my attention on the importance of extended lead-time flood warnings as well as harnessing all available flood intelligence and using multiple communication channels to convey warning, observational and safety information to the community.  I am keenly interested in the intersection between science, forecasting and services that result in effective decision making.

I recently returned to managing the BOM's Delft-FEWS system, ensuring that it continues to evolve and improve to meet our changing business needs and remains a world class forecasting system.  I look forward to being part of the Delft-FEWS strategy board representing Delft-FEWS users in Australia.
