Delft-FEWS course: Open Archive and Delft-FEWS PI Webservice

Introduction

This course focuses on the how to use Delft-FEWS in combination with the Open Archive and the PI Webservice. The downloads contain a Delft-FEWS application, an Open Archive and a PI web service installation (Stand Alone). You can experience how seamless integration works between the operational database and the Open Archive and examples on how to create JSON calls from HTML pages requesting the PI webservice for timeseries data are included as well.

Installation Instructions

  1. Download all 5 attachments from the table above.
  2. Open the Delft-FEWS Open Archive and PI webservice_online.pdf.
  3. Read slides 1-19 first.
  4. Extract Delft-FEWS_Archive_Course.zip to your computer according to the instructions in on Exercise 0 (slide #20) and Exercise 1 (slide #21). Continue the course.
  5. Extract Open_Archive_Config.zip to a temporary location on your computer according to Exercise 2 on slide #35. Continue the course.
  6. Extract Open_Archive_PI_webservice.zip onto your computer in the compulsory path (!) d:\fews\archive as explained in Exercise 3 (slide #45). If you would like (or cannot avoid) to install it in another location, please follow the instructions on slide #46 (non-default archive installation).
  7. Continue the course until Exercise 11. Remark: in exercises 5, 9 and 10 you need the content of Open_Archive_PI_webservice_exercises.zip

Delft-FEWS and Water Quality 

Introduction

This course focuses on the combination of Delft-FEWS, water quality and sample aspects. The course gives background information on Delft-FEWS and how to configure specific aspects (timeseries, graphs, maps, data processing) around water quality and how to import data as 'samples' in Delft-FEWS.

Installation Instructions

  1. Download all 3 attachments from the table above
  2. Extract fews_waterquality_windows.zip onto your C:\ or D:\ drive (e.g. D:\fews)
  3. Move/copy the *pdf files to e.g. D:\fews-courses\waterquality
  4. Once extracted, locate it and start the Delft-FEWS application by navigating into ..\FEWS_WaterQuality\ and double click the "_FEWS_WaterQuality.exe"
  5. Open both *pdf files, assess Excercise 0 (in Exercises_online.pdf) first and then start on slide #1 of  Delft-FEWS Water Quality Course Introduction_online.pdf
  6. To inspect answers of every exercise, you can (request a) download of the exercise answers (Delft-FEWS Water Quality Course Exercise Answers.zip)
