Coast / Estuary

Coastal systems are among the most dynamic physical systems on earth and are subject to a large variety of forces. The morphodynamic changes occurring to coastlines worldwide are of great interest and importance. These changes occur as a result of the erosion of sediments, its subsequent transport as bed load or suspended load, and eventual deposition. 
 
Estuaries are partly enclosed water bodies that have an open connection to the coast. Estuaries generally have one or more branching channels, intertidal mudflats and/or salt marshes. Intertidal areas are of high ecological importance and trap sediments (sands, silts, clays and organic matter).
Within the Delft3D modelling package a large variation of coastal and estuarine physical and chemical processes can be simulated. These include waves, tidal propagation, wind- or wave-induced water level setup, flow induced by salinity or temperature gradients, sand and mud transport, water quality and changing bathymetry (morphology). Delft3D can also be used operationally e.g. storm, surge and algal bloom forecasting.

Dear Adri,
I am running Delft3D-Flow model with offline wave computations and encountered the problem. Please find attached the screen shot of the error message.
I would thankful for your response to this error message.

Hi Chiru,

I guess it is because of the com files of the past runs are not cleaned up.

"Remove the com-files and all other temporary files before starting a calculation. The communication between WAVE and FLOW is very sensitive for old files from previous trials."

Dear Qinghua,

I have different problem while running Delft3D-wave model.

Hydrodynamic conditions (com-xxx.dat/.def) are taken from the online coupling run for single time step.

Please see the error message below.

Hi Chiranjeevi,

It seems to me like the wave model is complaining: there is not enough flow information for wave to run.

If you want to run an offline wave model, you need to run the flow model to get a complete com file which covers the whole simulation time. Then use this com file to provide hydro info fow a wave run.
