Coast / Estuary

Coastal systems are among the most dynamic physical systems on earth and are subject to a large variety of forces. The morphodynamic changes occurring to coastlines worldwide are of great interest and importance. These changes occur as a result of the erosion of sediments, its subsequent transport as bed load or suspended load, and eventual deposition. 
 
Estuaries are partly enclosed water bodies that have an open connection to the coast. Estuaries generally have one or more branching channels, intertidal mudflats and/or salt marshes. Intertidal areas are of high ecological importance and trap sediments (sands, silts, clays and organic matter).
Within the Delft3D modelling package a large variation of coastal and estuarine physical and chemical processes can be simulated. These include waves, tidal propagation, wind- or wave-induced water level setup, flow induced by salinity or temperature gradients, sand and mud transport, water quality and changing bathymetry (morphology). Delft3D can also be used operationally e.g. storm, surge and algal bloom forecasting.

Good morning all,

Reading a NEFIS file using 'vs_use.m' gives following warning/error,

Warning: The P-code file isstandalone.p was generated prior to MATLAB version 7.5 (R2007b) and will not be supported in a future release. Use pcode to
regenerate isstandalone.p using MATLAB R2007b or later.

Error using vs_use (line 994)
Index exceeds matrix dimensions.

Note, I have Matlab R2013a. However, the same NEFIS file can be read with vs_use in Matlab R2010a (in another pc) without warning/error. It is further sure, there is nothing wrong with the data file, I checked the data by viewing with 'util'.

According to the warning, I created a new *.p files for vs_use and isstandalone using the pcode function. But, I still end up with the same warning and error message.

Kindly advise me!!

Hi Dissa,

I have never seen this error and do not know how to solve it right away.

However, (if you haven't try it yet), try to use the qp_read-function that is also part of Open Earth Tools. This function should essentially do the same as vs_use, vs_get etc do (reading in trih and trim-files), and I think most people use it nowadays for post-processing Delft3D results.
