intro story Coast / Estuary

Coast / Estuary

Coastal systems are among the most dynamic physical systems on earth and are subject to a large variety of forces. The morphodynamic changes occurring to coastlines worldwide are of great interest and importance. These changes occur as a result of the erosion of sediments, its subsequent transport as bed load or suspended load, and eventual deposition.

Estuaries are partly enclosed water bodies that have an open connection to the coast. Estuaries generally have one or more branching channels, intertidal mudflats and/or salt marshes. Intertidal areas are of high ecological importance and trap sediments (sands, silts, clays and organic matter).
Within the Delft3D modelling package a large variation of coastal and estuarine physical and chemical processes can be simulated. These include waves, tidal propagation, wind- or wave-induced water level setup, flow induced by salinity or temperature gradients, sand and mud transport, water quality and changing bathymetry (morphology). Delft3D can also be used operationally e.g. storm, surge and algal bloom forecasting.

In Scrum, we use Sprint to achieve something

In Scrum, we use Sprint to achieve something It could be building a feature, validating a hypothesis, or even prototyping something. If we do not have a goal/purpose, the deviation is inevitable.A goal is something like driving from point A to point B. All the plans, tasks, activities, work to be done will be aimed towards reaching point B. The goal is something that remains constant while the strategies to achieve the goal may take different turns due to circumstances. The goal never changes but plans to achieve it may. Like we saw earlier, goals always keep us focused. The outcome expected out of the Sprint usually becomes the goal.Scrum is perfectly applicable for product development under the complex domain. In the complex domain, we cannot plan for things that are still not clear. We need a target to move towards and plan things accordingly. Sprint Goal helps the Scrum Team with Focus, which is also one of the Scrum Values.  <!--td {border: 1px solid #ccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}-->Coaching agile transitions
