intro story Coast / Estuary

Coast / Estuary

Coastal systems are among the most dynamic physical systems on earth and are subject to a large variety of forces. The morphodynamic changes occurring to coastlines worldwide are of great interest and importance. These changes occur as a result of the erosion of sediments, its subsequent transport as bed load or suspended load, and eventual deposition.

Estuaries are partly enclosed water bodies that have an open connection to the coast. Estuaries generally have one or more branching channels, intertidal mudflats and/or salt marshes. Intertidal areas are of high ecological importance and trap sediments (sands, silts, clays and organic matter).
Within the Delft3D modelling package a large variation of coastal and estuarine physical and chemical processes can be simulated. These include waves, tidal propagation, wind- or wave-induced water level setup, flow induced by salinity or temperature gradients, sand and mud transport, water quality and changing bathymetry (morphology). Delft3D can also be used operationally e.g. storm, surge and algal bloom forecasting.

Delft3d Quickplot problems

I don't know why Delft3d GUI (version 4.00.03) is not able to open Quickplot. At the beginning, I was receiving the error "unable to find Matlab dll", and I solved this problem adding the path to Matlab in the Windows environmental parameters. Now, when I lunch Quickplot I get the following message: "Please wait... ... Quickplot is loading". The message remains there for a couple of seconds and then disappears without lunching Quickplot.
Thinking that I still could have problems with paths, I wrote a batch file following the guidelines of this other topic: http://oss.deltares.nl/web/delft3d/general/-/message_boards/view_message/884068#_19_message_932260, but the situation did not change.
The Matlab compiler version is the 7.11 and I have also installed vcredistx86 (2010).
Any ideas what the problem might be?

Thank you Saeed for your help, and I think I have found the solution!
If you meet this kind of problem, there is probably something wrong with the redistributable you are using. In my case, I had to install vcredist_x86 (2005 SP1) after vcredistx86 (2010). The Quickplot launcher from the GUI still does not work, so I have to manually execute d3d_qp.exe, which can be found following the path: delft3d\win32\quickplot\bin
Hope this can help you guys
