external atmospheric files in parallel does not work - D-Flow Flexible Mesh - Delft3D
intro story D-Flow FM
D-Flow Flexible MeshD-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:
An overview of the current developments can be found here. The D-Flow FM - team would be delighted if you would participate in discussions on the generation of meshes, the specification of boundary conditions, the running of computations, and all kinds of other relevant topics. external atmospheric files in parallel does not work

Hi,
I tried to run the model in parallel with the external wind and air pressure options on, such as:
Filwu = some file
Filwv = some file
Filwp = some file
But the program gave errors saying FLOW EXITED ABNORMALLY
Nothing was written in diag files, but the same configuration worked in single processor run.
The question is, is it not yet supported in parallel run to have sepearate atmospheric files??
Thanks

Hi Veli,
It should work. But I did a small test and ran into some problems. I solved them in the trunk in revision 1320. Can you try running your model with this (not yet completely tested!) version?
Regards,
Adri

Thanks a lot Adri
Indeed at the time I was using the tagged version, now I compiled the trunk version and it seems to work well.
I was wondering if there were documentation on the format of external atmospheric files in detail. The flow manual mention them briefly.
For example the temperature, humidity etc examples on a seperate grid files are not explained.
Thanks again
Veli

Hi Veli,
Looking at the manual, all the information seems to be there. Can you tell more precisely what you are missing?
It may help to have a look at the attached input of one of the testcases in our testbench.
Regards,
Adri
