D-Flow Flexible Mesh

D-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:

  • Easier 1D-2D-3D model coupling, intuitive setup of boundary conditions and meteorological forcings (amongst others).
  • More flexible 2D gridding in delta regions, river junctions, harbours, intertidal flats and more.
  • High performance by smart use of multicore architectures, and grid computing clusters.

Hi all,

I would like to ask about the possibility of running a long AD model but using a repetitive HD pattern (e.g.:spring/neap cycle that repeats)
The idea behind this is that as you know the HD takes long time to simulate, while running an AD model (having the HD) is fairly quick.
This would be used to assess the cumulative fate of conservative substances over a long period of time.
I understand I am making some assumptions by doing this but that is ok at the moment.

I believe this was possible in the older versions but not sure if it can be done with the new Flexible Mesh version.

Any comments/guidance?

just found in this manual

a brief description and as it is explained, it should be eru straight forward.
I will try and have a look, anyway let me know if you have some tips
