D-Flow Flexible Mesh

D-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:

  • Easier 1D-2D-3D model coupling, intuitive setup of boundary conditions and meteorological forcings (amongst others).
  • More flexible 2D gridding in delta regions, river junctions, harbours, intertidal flats and more.
  • High performance by smart use of multicore architectures, and grid computing clusters.

Coordinate problem plotting WAQ results

Hello,

I have been having problems to plot waq results. Somehow, maps lose its coordinates and the plot goes wrong. Anyway, when I choose the plot options "countinous shade", map goes rigth.

Following , when I exported to .mat and tried to plot in Matlab, the same problem comeback. I checked that grid coordinates have rigth and wrong values.

Observation: flow results are plotted correctly. No problems

I really would apreciate some help

Can you be more specific: include some files or pictures?

What do you mean by "maps lose its coordinates"?
Do you mean that the plot first looks OK, but then -- after some action? -- changes?

You state "when I choose the plot options "countinous shade", map goes right". So, when does the plot go wrong, when using "patches"? Why do you think that the plot is wrong? Can you show some results?

You state that when you export the data to MATLAB, you also notice that "grid coordinates have right and wrong values".
Can you indicate why you say that some values are wrong?

For water quality output you need to combine the water quality map-file with a grid. For Delft3D 4 water quality models, the grid is typically stored in a pair of lga- and cco-files. Can you double check that you are using the correct lga- AND cco-files. QUICKPLOT will ask for only one file, but it will also use the other file with the same name. If you combine your water quality map-file with an incorrect lga- and cco-file, the coordinates may be wrong. However, I would expect that the coordinates would then be wrong for both patch and continuous shades plots.

Can you also indicate which version of QUICKPLOT you are using?
