D-Flow Flexible Mesh

D-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:

  • Easier 1D-2D-3D model coupling, intuitive setup of boundary conditions and meteorological forcings (amongst others).
  • More flexible 2D gridding in delta regions, river junctions, harbours, intertidal flats and more.
  • High performance by smart use of multicore architectures, and grid computing clusters.

Good Morning, 

I am an employee from Greece and I have  some questions related to the following manual file:///C:/Users/user/Desktop/delft3d_2018/MANUALS%20FOR%20DELFT3D/Delft3D-FLOW_User_Manual.pdf.

There exist some tutorials- examples (for instance the   “Friesian Tidal Inlet”). Does anyone know where I can find the those files ?

for example <tut_fti.mdf>, <fti_02.grd> etc.. 

please help me if you know!

Hi Christoforos,

you can find the examples files when you get access to the Deltares FTP, you can download the .msi file tutorial. When you request a license to use the GUI-Deltares, Deltares gives the FTP link and password in order to download the files.

Dear Gabriel,

firstly thank you a lot for your assistant. But I have and another question. In particular, when I run the delft3d_x64_tutorial.msi I can't find again the files. I need the files related to the bathymetry, grid, etc. For instance, I need fti_ch02.dep, <fti_02.grd>,tut_fti_1.thd,etc , which are mentioned in the file:///C:/Users/user/Desktop/delft3d_2018/MANUALS%20FOR%20DELFT3D/Delft3D-FLOW_User_Manual.pdf. Do you know where I can find those files when I run the  delft3d_x64_tutorial.msi ? Are those files stored in a different folder ?

Hi Christoforos,

When installing the GUI using "Install-Shield.exe", a menu will pop-up with the option "Install Delft3D Tutorial".
