Delft3D-WAVE module - D-Flow Flexible Mesh - Delft3D
intro story D-Flow FM
D-Flow Flexible MeshD-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:
An overview of the current developments can be found here. The D-Flow FM - team would be delighted if you would participate in discussions on the generation of meshes, the specification of boundary conditions, the running of computations, and all kinds of other relevant topics. Feel free to share your smart questions and/or brilliant solutions!

Dear all,
I really do not want to spam this forum but can someone tell me is the Delft3D-WAVE module operational at all? The last two days I am staring into code lines trying to find what is happening. Everything have been compiled without errors but still I can not run not even the examples from the tutorial folder. Error "child killed: unknown signal" appears. FLOW module works well.
Please provide me some help.
Thanks,
Mladen

Hi Mladen,
Yes the WAVE module works well..
What platform are you running?
Did you make sure that the wave.exe was created after the make? It should be in the .../bin directory along with d_hydro.exe, deltares_hydro.tcl, mormerge.exe and a bunch of other files (depending on which version of the trunk/tag you are using).
Are you trying to use the GUI? If wave.exe was created, and you are only trying to launch it with the GUI, there is a chance that the directory structure is not how the GUI expects it. E.g. the linux GUI expects a different directory structure than the newer (5.0.XX) source code creates.
Please advise your current situation for a more detailed solution.
Thanks,
Shawn

Dear Shawn,
Thanks for the reply. I have solved the problem. Folder structure after compiling was wrong. I have added one new folder (swan) manually and now it works well.
Regards,
Mladen

Hi Mladen,
That's great. Have fun modelling!
Now, since that problem has been resolved, you should mark this thread as answered so that others looking for a similar solution can find it.
To do so, at the top right of one of the messages click on the button that says "Mark as an Answer".

Dear Mladen,
I'm having the same problem you were when trying to run wave gui in Windows.
I can execute a wave scenario using batch file flow2d3d, but this means I can only run flow and wave coupled.
Could you tell me what kind of files you put inside the "swan' folder you created?
Maybe this can solve my problem.
Kind Regards,
Mihael Souza

Dear Mihael,
I have just copied files from wave folder into the manually created swan folder.
There is one topic in the forum where i have explained it in detail.
You can find it here here:
