D-Flow Flexible Mesh

D-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:

  • Easier 1D-2D-3D model coupling, intuitive setup of boundary conditions and meteorological forcings (amongst others).
  • More flexible 2D gridding in delta regions, river junctions, harbours, intertidal flats and more.
  • High performance by smart use of multicore architectures, and grid computing clusters.

Dear All,

Thank you in advance for any help that you can provide me.

I have (finally) successfully compiled the source code, although there where problems in the locations of the library files. I know have no errors and my_folder/5.00.10.1983/bin/win32/flow2d3d/bin I have all the correction files as followed form the instructions.

However when I attempt to run the first example )1_standard. The program crashes when it is reading the complete M-file, the .mdf file is present so I unsure what the problem is.

Hi Lucy,

Did you run the example by executing "run_flow2d3d.bat"? Can you post the screen text and (if it is present) the tri-diag file?

Hoi Adri,

Thank you for your prompt reply. I have been double clicking on "run.flow2d3d.bat" and it does start well, i.e.

Part 1 - Initialising Time Dep. Data Module...
Part II - Creating intermediate files...
part III - Initialising of the Execution module...
Part IV - Reading complete MD-file...

ERROR: Assertion failed: ULONG_MAX == <size_t> ULONG_MAX, file. \ serc\oc.c, line 1 59

Then d.hydro.exe stops working, I get a windows error mesage.

Sorry I am not sure what the try-diag file is.

Hi Lucy,

I had this problem once when I continued a broken compilation. Can you:
  • Start with an empty directory
  • Download the source code using Subversion/Tortoise
  • Compile the source code
  • Try to run example 1 again.
