FLOW-WAVE - D-Flow Flexible Mesh - Delft3D
intro story D-Flow FM
D-Flow Flexible MeshD-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:
An overview of the current developments can be found here. The D-Flow FM - team would be delighted if you would participate in discussions on the generation of meshes, the specification of boundary conditions, the running of computations, and all kinds of other relevant topics. Feel free to share your smart questions and/or brilliant solutions!

Hi, when I starts flow-wave, I received this message:

What's the problem? Thanks,

Hi Francisco,
FLOW seems to have a problem when reading the XML input file. Some tips:
Regards,
Adri
FLOW seems to have a problem when reading the XML input file. Some tips:
- Does "...\examples\03_flow-wave" run? If not, something went wrong while compiling the source code.
- To run your model: put it in a directory next to directory "03_flow-wave" and copy from "03_flow-wave" to your model: the run script, "config_d_hydro.xml" and "dioconfig.ini". Open "config_d_hydro.xml" in a text editor and set the correct mdf-file.
- If this does not help: try first running FLOW without WAVE online (don't forget to remove the line "waveol= #yes#" from the mdf-file, or use the Delft3D-GUI to do that for you).
- The communication between FLOW and WAVE is via files and is very sensitive for (temporary) files from previous trials. Please clean the run-directory as much as possible before starting a calculation.
Regards,
Adri

Hi Francisco,
Many problems can result in this error message. Debugging is needed to find out what goes wrong. Try to isolate the problem: Does FLOW run without WAVE, does WAVE run without FLOW, check how much memory is used per process (using the task manager).
If you want Deltares to solve this, you'll need a service package.

Adri
