D-Flow Flexible Mesh

D-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:

  • Easier 1D-2D-3D model coupling, intuitive setup of boundary conditions and meteorological forcings (amongst others).
  • More flexible 2D gridding in delta regions, river junctions, harbours, intertidal flats and more.
  • High performance by smart use of multicore architectures, and grid computing clusters.

WW3 Spectral output: Boundary spectrum to Delft3d WAVE

I would like to use the WW3 model output directly as spectral boundary input to Delft3d wave.

* One way to do this by converting the WW3 spectral output same as SWAN spectrum format .sp2 file and use it. This is indeed working ; using the key word  at the end of your mdw file.

Definition = fromsp2file
OverallSpecfile = wave_spectrum_file.sp2/ wave_spectrum_file.bnd.

Now my question is can we use the .spc spectrum file from WW3 directly to delft3d WAVE ?? . What are the keywords to pass on to the .mdw file? 

The answer would be definitely "YES" . By using  the keyword  "fromwwfile" simulation is starting with
