SWAN executable does not exist - D-Flow Flexible Mesh - Delft3D
intro story D-Flow FM
D-Flow Flexible MeshD-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:
An overview of the current developments can be found here. The D-Flow FM - team would be delighted if you would participate in discussions on the generation of meshes, the specification of boundary conditions, the running of computations, and all kinds of other relevant topics. Feel free to share your smart questions and/or brilliant solutions!

Hi everyone,
I've started using D-wave, i tried running the tutorial mdw files but as I run it hangs up.
can this be a problem on my compilation ( though my D-Flow module works properly).
it says the error below, SWAN executable does not exist. do I need to recompile it??
Regards
Nophi

Hi Nophi,
When downloading the Delft3D source code, a precompiled version of SWAN is included (see https://svn.oss.deltares.nl/repos/delft3d/trunk/src/third_party_open/swan). I expect something went wrong after compiling, when copying build binaries (including a SWAN executable) into the Delft3D GUI directory structure.
The easiest way to solve this: your screen shot shows where the SWAN executable is expected. You can copy it manually from "third_party_open" to the expected location.
Regards,
Adri

Thanks Adri,
I resolved this problem by changing the directory of swanexec=%D3D_HOME%\win32\wave... from swanexec=%D3D_HOME%\w32\wave... in the swan.bat in win32/lib folder.
There seems an inconsistency as the file folder used in installing is win32 as opposed to w32 that causes the error.
Thanks a lot for the quick response about this matter.
regards
Nophi

Hi Nophi,
All "w32" directories are renamed into "win32" with the introduction of Delft3D-GUI 4.00.03. This fits with source code revision 2367 and up. It seems that older "source code" (including SWAN binaries) is mixed with new Delft3D-GUI on your system.
Regards,
Adri
