Compiling | Revision 3020 Tag 5.01.00.2163 | VS 2008 + iFort 11.1 - D-Flow Flexible Mesh - Delft3D
intro story D-Flow FM
D-Flow Flexible MeshD-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:
An overview of the current developments can be found here. The D-Flow FM - team would be delighted if you would participate in discussions on the generation of meshes, the specification of boundary conditions, the running of computations, and all kinds of other relevant topics. Feel free to share your smart questions and/or brilliant solutions!

Hi,
I ran into problems with nesting grids under a Linux compiled 64bit with a Windows mounted GUI.
Thus I need to compile D3D on Windows solely.
For this I acquired different VS versions. The most promising so far has been VS 2008 in combination with Intel (R) Fortran 11.1
However, when I compile either the debug or the release version (d_hydro_open_source.sln) I first get a notification telling me that multiple projects are outdated and that VS 2008 updates these before continuing.
This completed the compilation ends with 1 error and countless warnings.
The error is related to the "wave" solver somehow
I recieved this error 5 times now. I will check different tag versions now.
Does somebody have an idea what this causes?
Kind regards,
Oliver

I just downloaded and compiled Revision 3020: /tags/4.00.07.0892
It compiled without any interruptions. All example scripts run without problem.
I will try compiling the versions inbetween and see where it stops.
Kind regards,
Oliver

Hi Oliver,
It seems that something is wrong with the target directory where it want to copy to. Does it has to do with write permissions? Can you delete the target directory manually? Does that help?
Regards,
Adri

It worked on the machine on the weekend.
Unfortunately I do not have the permission to change the settings on this one yet.
So I will make do with what works.
Cheers,
Oliver

Hi Oliver,
Avoid compiling/running in the default Windows directories like "c:\Program Files (x86)", "c:\Users\myName\My Documents\" etc.. Just create a directory "d:\delft3d" with subdirectories "code" and "models".
Regards,
Adri
