D-Flow Flexible Mesh

D-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:

  • Easier 1D-2D-3D model coupling, intuitive setup of boundary conditions and meteorological forcings (amongst others).
  • More flexible 2D gridding in delta regions, river junctions, harbours, intertidal flats and more.
  • High performance by smart use of multicore architectures, and grid computing clusters.

how to veiw WAQ nested boundary condtion BBN file?

Hi there,
I have created a nested water quliaty boudnary file in the BBN format. But i have got the trouble to have it work with the WAQ. So i need to check whether BBN file is created correctly by viewing the file in other editors or any viewers. QUICKPLOT can view FLOW bound condition file but not WAQ bound condition file. Please advise. Really appreciate your help on this. Thanks.

Unfortunately these files do not contain all the information required to make them “viewable”. That is, you need to provide external information in order to properly read these files. More specifically:
- The BBN files do not contain information on the number and names of the substances
- They also do not contain information about the number of boundary segments
- This information is implicitly provided in the Delft3D-WAQ input file, so the assumption is made that the same substances are present in the same order and that the same boundary segments are present

That said, I made some adjustments to the nesting software and the version I have now writes a new file (in the binary history format) that does contain the information that is missing from the BBN files. With this you can view the contents using QuickPlot.

It is not part of the installation yet, of course, but I can send it to you directly.
