D-Flow Flexible Mesh

D-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:

  • Easier 1D-2D-3D model coupling, intuitive setup of boundary conditions and meteorological forcings (amongst others).
  • More flexible 2D gridding in delta regions, river junctions, harbours, intertidal flats and more.
  • High performance by smart use of multicore architectures, and grid computing clusters.

I am testing a Windows 64-bit version of the trunk with a 7 domain Z-layer model with morphology. Although the simulation successfully completed at the end of a 7-day run, only one of the domains gives the "Simulation finished" message with the Performance timers table. Also, only the domain with the "Simulation finished" message in the tri-diag file had the last day of output written to the map file and the last hour of data written to the history file. I have the output to the map file set to once a day and hourly output to the history file. In other words, it looks like the program is having difficulty properly closing out the simulation. I can get around this problem by running an extra day of simulation time, but it seems like this is a bug.

What revision number of the source code do you use?

Note that the combination Z-layers and morphology is research functionality.

Note that the 64-bit Windows version is not fully tested yet.

We are debugging a problem with the same behaviour at this moment, but that is a sigma-model and the problem only appears on Linux. You may try the following workaround:
In file "...\src\engines_gpl\flow2d3d\packages\manager\src\trisim.F90", remove (or disable) the lines 111 and 112:
call gdp_dealloc(gdp)
deallocate(gdp, stat=ierr)
