intro story D-Flow FM

D-Flow Flexible Mesh

D-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:

  • Easier 1D-2D-3D model coupling, intuitive setup of boundary conditions and meteorological forcings (amongst others).
  • More flexible 2D gridding in delta regions, river junctions, harbours, intertidal flats and more.
  • High performance by smart use of multicore architectures, and grid computing clusters.
An overview of the current developments can be found here.

The D-Flow FM - team would be delighted if you would participate in discussions on the generation of meshes, the specification of boundary conditions, the running of computations, and all kinds of other relevant topics. Feel free to share your smart questions and/or brilliant solutions!

Daily ScrumIn Cricket, every player on the ground has so much visibility into what is happening in the game. Like scorecards and expectations from players to achieve the goal. Daily Scrum is something like that. It is like a team huddle.
As the name suggests, Daily Scrum happens every day of the sprint. In the event, the development team inspects their work since the last daily scrum forecasts future work. They plan their work for the next 24 hours. It is a 15-minute timeboxed event focused mainly on inspecting the progress towards Sprint Goal. The team meets every day in the same place and at the same time to avoid misunderstandings and other shortcomings. The event is kept nimble, and any detailed discussions related to impediments will happen after the daily Scrum. One of the responsibilities of the Scrum Master is to ensure,
  • Daily Scrum happens regularly as per cadence
  • The team inspects their work and plans for their next day
  • Keeping the event in under 15 minutes
While the Scrum Master ensures that the event happens, the Development will remain responsible for conducting the Daily Scrum. There are different ways to conduct Daily Scrum to keep it exciting and also maximize participation. <!--td {border: 1px solid #ccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}-->Product Prototyping
