D-Flow Flexible Mesh

D-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:

  • Easier 1D-2D-3D model coupling, intuitive setup of boundary conditions and meteorological forcings (amongst others).
  • More flexible 2D gridding in delta regions, river junctions, harbours, intertidal flats and more.
  • High performance by smart use of multicore architectures, and grid computing clusters.

Hi,

I want to implement the absolute flux total solar radiation, and I know that I need the (short wave) solar radiation, I got it from NARR-NCAR, but I do not know what is the extension of the file, for example when I obtained the file for temperature I re-named it in the following way: "temperature.amt", the extension for used it on delft is .AMT, I want to know the extension of the file related with the short wave radiation. Thanks a lot.

Please have a look at the following sections in the manual:
9.8 Heat flux models
A.2.18 Time-series for the heat model parameters

If you want to prescribe the incoming (short wave) solar radiation, you should use heat flux model 1 (Absolute flux, total solar radiation). Use FLOW-GUI to guide you through the input. Start by filling in 2 time fields with dummy time varying values. Save everything and close the GUI. The resulting mdf-file should contain a line like this:
Filtmp = #runid.tem#
and file "runid.tem" should be created, containing the dummy values. Open this file in an editor and add your solar radiation input in the correct format.
The extension of the file is not hard coded; .tem is used for recognizability.
