intro story D-Flow FM

D-Flow Flexible Mesh

D-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:

  • Easier 1D-2D-3D model coupling, intuitive setup of boundary conditions and meteorological forcings (amongst others).
  • More flexible 2D gridding in delta regions, river junctions, harbours, intertidal flats and more.
  • High performance by smart use of multicore architectures, and grid computing clusters.
An overview of the current developments can be found here.

The D-Flow FM - team would be delighted if you would participate in discussions on the generation of meshes, the specification of boundary conditions, the running of computations, and all kinds of other relevant topics. Feel free to share your smart questions and/or brilliant solutions!

Dear all!

Seems almost OK after so many packages installation and paths modification, but I am stucked here:

Prefix : /virdir/Scratch/Hao/d3d

I mainly followed those command:
./autogen.sh
CFLAGS='-O2' CXXFLAGS='-O2' FFLAGS='-O2' FCFLAGS='-O2' ./configure --prefix=`pwd`
make ds-install

I use GNU Fortran (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.3-1ubuntu5) 4.6.3. Didn't find the relevant lines in makefile. Anything I can do now? Any one can give me a stable release version?

Hi Hao Wang,

After the compilation, a simple script is started copying the binaries from "sourcecoderoot/src/..." to "sourcecoderoot/bin/..." into the directory structure needed by Delft3D. The errors in your output are generated by this script and are related to delpar, delwaq, swan and vs. What happens if you run the example testcases? I expect the FLOW cases should run. May be the errors are not "harming" and you might even run the WAVE and the WAQ cases.

Adri

Dear Adri,

somehow I uninstall it and download the code again. This time I use 'svn checkout' instead of 'svn co' and it give me new error.

libtool: compile: mpif90 -I../../../../../../utils_lgpl/delftio/include -I../../../../../../utils_lgpl/precision/packages/precision/src -I../../../../../../utils_lgpl/delftio/packages/delftio/src/diof90 -I../../../../../../utils_lgpl/deltares_common/packages/deltares_common/src -DWITH_DELFTONLINE -O2 -ffree-line-length-none -cpp -c sync_rtcflow.f90 -fPIC -o .libs/sync_rtcflow.o
sync_rtcflow.f90:138.8:

if (commFLOWtoRTC /= flagFLOWtoRTC) then
1
Error: Logicals at (1) must be compared with .neqv. instead of /=
make[6]: *** [sync_rtcflow.lo] Error 1
make[6]: Leaving directory `/virdir/Scratch/Hao/d3d4469/utils_lgpl/delftio/packages/delftio/src/delftio_sync'
make[5]: *** [install-recursive] Error 1

Have you ever see this one before?

Dear Adri,

the one I has deleted doesn't work also. And Swan is very important for my simulation that I can't drop it.

I was wondering if someone in Deltares can compile the code for me? I will do some modification base on one standard set of source code later on. It is better to avoid all annoying errors.

best regards,
yours,

Hi Hao Wang,

'svn checkout' is identical to 'svn co'.

I expect that switching to the (latest) tagged version will solve these problems.

Adri
