D-Flow Flexible Mesh

D-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:

  • Easier 1D-2D-3D model coupling, intuitive setup of boundary conditions and meteorological forcings (amongst others).
  • More flexible 2D gridding in delta regions, river junctions, harbours, intertidal flats and more.
  • High performance by smart use of multicore architectures, and grid computing clusters.

Hi!

I downloded the Source Code Revision 4767.
I could compile successfully both Win32 and Win64 versions with Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 and Intel Parallel Studio XE2011 SP1 Update3 for Windows.
The Flow - Start in Win32 version is running fine with Tutorial/Flow/F34_Demo

The Win64 version Flow - Start with same demo data is not starting, giving error message:
Starting Delft3D-FLOW computation ...
d_hydro ABORT: Cannot load component library "flow2d3d.dll". Return code: 193
child process exited abnormally

I checked, the file flow2d3d.dll is existing (error code would be 126 in case of missing file). Replacing the dll with an 1 year old version it is working fine.

Any idea? Can this revision4767 work as Win64?

I tried the latest version 4884 in the trunk, that it works fine with the compiling settings you mentioned. Would you try again? It should work again.

Hi all,

I had a similar problem, but with tag version 6075 with VS2010 and Intel FORTRAN XE 2013.

Assuming you are not selecting the wrong VS and IFORT numbers in 'prepare_sln.py', I solved my problem by trying the following:

1) Right click on the project 'delft3d_open' and select 'Clean Solution'. This is a good first step if you have compilation problems and usually works for me. Unfortunately it did not work this time.
2) Install Parallel Studio XE 2015 (Update 2). Open up project in VS2010, select 'Clean Solution', then 'Build Solution' with options 'Release' and 'x64' selected. Program compiled first time, no problems.

It is possible that if you are using an older FORTRAN version than the one used to write the code, it will throw up some errors and not compile everything needed.

Hi,

Some additions:
1. If you are running into compilation problems, please copy/paste the full contents of the output window into a text file and attach that to your post on this forum.
2. When the compilation succeeded, start by running at least one of the examples that are shipped together with the source code, see this page for detailed instructions.
