intro story D-Flow FM

D-Flow Flexible Mesh

D-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:

  • Easier 1D-2D-3D model coupling, intuitive setup of boundary conditions and meteorological forcings (amongst others).
  • More flexible 2D gridding in delta regions, river junctions, harbours, intertidal flats and more.
  • High performance by smart use of multicore architectures, and grid computing clusters.
An overview of the current developments can be found here.

The D-Flow FM - team would be delighted if you would participate in discussions on the generation of meshes, the specification of boundary conditions, the running of computations, and all kinds of other relevant topics. Feel free to share your smart questions and/or brilliant solutions!

Good day!

I would like to ask about the best subversion tag of delft3d that I can download for now since my computer's hard drive malfunction, i need to install delft3d again and I don't know which tag is the best for now and if it's compatible with delft3d_ohmw_4.01.00.rc.03.

Thank you very much for the help!

Sincerely

Hi Norlan,

The present stable tag version is: 6.01.16.5169 or you can use 5169 directly.

Cheers,

Qinghua

Good day Sir Qinghua Ye,

I already downloaded the source code (tag 5169) from the subversion repository. I compiled it using Microsoft visual studio 2010 and visual fortran composer xe 11. Upon compiling the source code, it finished compiling but there are so many warning (at the end of the compilation, there's a note of 68 success,12 failed, 0 skipped.) Is it okay to use the compiled code even there are warnings(please see attached file)?

Thank you very much

Sincerely

Hi Norlan,

There are errors in your warnings. most of them are related to tools you probably won't use. I don't have enough information to see if you have something that works. The easiest way is just to try to run the example testcases. See for more information: http://oss.deltares.nl/web/delft3d/source-code#Run a calculation

In case of compilation problems: pleas look at the tekst in the output window and try to compare it with https://svn.oss.deltares.nl/repos/delft3d/trunk/src/logs/VS2010_Intel12_Release_Win32_Output.txt

Regards,

Adri
