D-Flow Flexible Mesh

D-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:

  • Easier 1D-2D-3D model coupling, intuitive setup of boundary conditions and meteorological forcings (amongst others).
  • More flexible 2D gridding in delta regions, river junctions, harbours, intertidal flats and more.
  • High performance by smart use of multicore architectures, and grid computing clusters.

Hi to everyone,

in Delft3D- WAVE (standalone), I am forcing a big area (southeast Mexico, Cuba, Jamaica, Belize, Honduras...) just with wind.
The scope is simply to see how wave heights increase with time. After several simulations H doesn't increase, but rather decreases.

Uniform wind about 30 m/s perpendicular to the coast of study has been tried. Also space varying winds have been tried.

Energy dissipation factors such as whitecapping, quadruplets, triads & diffraction have been activated and deactivated.

JONSWAP coefficient set to 0.038 m2s-3 (as suggested in WAVE manual for swell conditions).

Other factors left as default.

Can WAVE standalone generate this waves (due to wind stress), or it needs to be coupled with DELFT3D-FLOW?
