intro story D-Flow FM

D-Flow Flexible Mesh

D-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:

  • Easier 1D-2D-3D model coupling, intuitive setup of boundary conditions and meteorological forcings (amongst others).
  • More flexible 2D gridding in delta regions, river junctions, harbours, intertidal flats and more.
  • High performance by smart use of multicore architectures, and grid computing clusters.
An overview of the current developments can be found here.

The D-Flow FM - team would be delighted if you would participate in discussions on the generation of meshes, the specification of boundary conditions, the running of computations, and all kinds of other relevant topics. Feel free to share your smart questions and/or brilliant solutions!

more problems with expat.h

Hi all,

Following the advice from a previous post I have made the following modification to common.am to hardwire the inclusion of the expat.h directory:

STANDARD_C_INCLUDES = \
-I$(top_builddir)/engines_gpl/d_hydro/include \
-I$(top_builddir)/engines_gpl/flow2d3d/packages/flow2d3d/include \
-I$(top_builddir)/utils_lgpl/d_hydro_lib/include \
-I$(top_builddir)/utils_lgpl/delftonline/include \
-I$(top_builddir)/utils_lgpl/esmfsm/include \
-I$(top_builddir)/utils_lgpl/deltares_common/packages/deltares_common_c/include \
-I/gpfs/grace/expat-2.1.0-gcc/include

[uck09rvu@login00 ~/delft3d/tag5389/src]$ ls /gpfs/grace/expat-2.1.0-gcc/include
expat_external.h expat.h

I have rerun autogen --verbose and configure but this error:

$ ./configure.sh
(...)
checking for sys/ipc.h... yes
checking sys/shm.h usability... yes
checking sys/shm.h presence... yes
checking for sys/shm.h... yes
checking for main in -lstdc++... yes
checking for struct shm_info... no
checking expat.h usability... no
checking expat.h presence... no
checking for expat.h... no
configure: error: Compiler can't find <expat.h>

I wonder if with the log files included will give any hint of why configure can't find the include file.

Many thanks,
tiago

P.S. I opened a new thread as the previous one was marked as resolved so I hope I am not breaking the forum's rules.
