D-Flow Flexible Mesh

D-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:

  • Easier 1D-2D-3D model coupling, intuitive setup of boundary conditions and meteorological forcings (amongst others).
  • More flexible 2D gridding in delta regions, river junctions, harbours, intertidal flats and more.
  • High performance by smart use of multicore architectures, and grid computing clusters.

Hi, Sir...

I compiled the open source Delft3D and copied all released files in "~\bin\w32" to "C:\Delft3D\w32". (* Because I installed the pre-compiled Delft3D-MENU.)

When I was compiling the source codes, some error and warning messages were viewed but I ignored.

Although it runs stablely in serial mode, today, I tried to run in parallel mode and failed. (* I refered "run_flow2d3d_parallel.bat" in the example directory.)

[indent](1) I opened command prompt window.
(2) > smpd -d [ENTER]
(3) I opend new command prompt window.
(4) > mpiexec -n 8 deltares_hydro config_flow2d3d.ini [ENTER]
(5) Comptutation cannot run. emoticon [/indent]

I attached log file. Do you know the solution of this trouble shooting? Do I have to register MPI setting?

My computing environment is follow as :

[indent](1) CPU : Intel® Core™ i7 Processor (860 @2.8GHz)
(2) OS : Microsoft® Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit)
(3) Compiler : Microsoft® Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate, Intel® Visual Fortran Composer XE 2011 for Windows (Update 1)
(4) Delft3D build : 849[/indent]

Hi Byongjun,

Writing to ascii output files is not parallellized. You have to disable this via the FLOW GUI, Output, Print.

I expected that nobody would need this outdated output format. Do you use it or was it switched on by accident?

Hi Adri,

I checked the mdf file as your advice and I found the problem. Your indication was right.

If I turn off the PRINT HISTORY/MAP RESULT option at [Output], it works perfectly. emoticon
