D-Flow Flexible Mesh

D-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:

  • Easier 1D-2D-3D model coupling, intuitive setup of boundary conditions and meteorological forcings (amongst others).
  • More flexible 2D gridding in delta regions, river junctions, harbours, intertidal flats and more.
  • High performance by smart use of multicore architectures, and grid computing clusters.

Open a netcdf-4 with Python

Hi Delft3D users,

I try to create a script with Python in delft3D FM. I need to read lot of netcdf file (netcdf-4 Classic), my script begin like that :


from DelftTools.Utils.NetCdf import NetCdfFile

# Download a netCdf file

file = NetCdfFile.OpenExisting("C:\\1_Etudes\\38081_Ajaccio-rejet\\mission\\Travail\\Recueil_donnees\\ifremer\\MARS3D\\PREVIMER_F2-MARS3D-MENOR1200_20151005T1500Z.nc")



but it doesn't managed to open my file. Whereas when I try with another file (netcdf-3 Classic), it works.

Someone can tell me how to read netcdf-4 Classic file with Python?

You have to install netCDF4 in your machine.

https://pypi.python.org/pypi/netCDF4

I recommend you to use Acaconda. With Acaconda is much more simple to install netCDF4 and other python-related stuff.
