D-Flow Flexible Mesh

D-Flow Flexible Mesh (D-Flow FM) is the new software engine for hydrodynamical simulations on unstructured grids in 1D-2D-3D. Together with the familiar curvilinear meshes from Delft3D 4, the unstructured grid can consist of triangles, pentagons (etc.) and 1D channel networks, all in one single mesh. It combines proven technology from the hydrodynamic engines of Delft3D 4 and SOBEK 2 and adds flexible administration, resulting in:

  • Easier 1D-2D-3D model coupling, intuitive setup of boundary conditions and meteorological forcings (amongst others).
  • More flexible 2D gridding in delta regions, river junctions, harbours, intertidal flats and more.
  • High performance by smart use of multicore architectures, and grid computing clusters.

Hello,

I am pre-processing wind data for input into our DELFT3D model. I have wind u and v components data in lat/lon (WGS84) which I would like to transform into the the projection of the model which is NZTM2000. From what I read on deltares forum and GIS forums I need to transform the u and v data to match the new projection. Basically I think I need to find the angle of difference between the old coord system and the new coord system and apply this to the u and v components?
But how do I do this exactly?
I can not find any reference or instructions anywhere on the step and formulas to do the calculations.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi Charlene,

The U/V follows the direction of MN. In Quickplot you may output the UV in XY direction as well.
