DELWAQ

DELWAQ is the engine of the D-Water Quality and D-Ecology programmes of the Delft3D suite. It is based on a rich library from which relevant substances and processes can be selected to quickly put water and sediment quality models together.

The processes library covers many aspects of water quality and ecology, from basic tracers, dissolved oxygen, nutrients, organic matter, inorganic suspended matter, heavy metals, bacteria and organic micro-pollutants, to complex algae and macrophyte dynamics. High performance solvers enable the simulation of long periods, often required to capture the full cycles of the processes being modelled.

The finite volume approach underlying DELWAQ allows it to be coupled to both the structured grid hydrodynamics of the current Delft3D-FLOW engine and the upcoming D-Flow Flexible Mesh engine (1D-2D-3D) of the Delft3D Flexible Mesh Suite (or even other models such as TELEMAC).

Hello Everyone

Thanks to your group I could successfully simulated my pond in D-WAQ. This is 3D model.I would like to do a 0D model and compare my result. But I could not find anything in any manual about that but the sentence 'D-Water Quality can be applied just as easily on 0D, 1DV, 1DH, 2DV, 2DH and 3D schematisations of a water body' in Delft3D Functional Specifications. the link below

Could you help me and introduce some reference that how can do 0D model?

Normally you import the flow field from a hydrodynamic model - ultimately that means that you have the volumes, flows, areas, dispersion lengths and the pointer table that describes the connectivity of the segments from such a model. (Using the graphical user-interface, you do that via the "hyd-file"). But that is only one way. You can provide these data in another form as well - independently from any hydrodynamic or hydrological model.

I have attached an example with four separate segments - as there is no exchange defined between these segments (the number of exchanges is zero), they are four independent 0D models. I use that to examine the details of the various processes (hence also the references to all kinds of include files). It also shows that you can define the geometry independently of any external model. You can even define a flow field if you want to - to have a river coming in/going out for instance. Details are provided in the documentation of the input file.

There are other possibiities too (define a very small hydrodynamic model for instance), but I find this to be the easiest way for this sort of modelling.
