intro story DELWAQ

DELWAQ

DELWAQ is the engine of the D-Water Quality and D-Ecology programmes of the Delft3D suite. It is based on a rich library from which relevant substances and processes can be selected to quickly put water and sediment quality models together.

The processes library covers many aspects of water quality and ecology, from basic tracers, dissolved oxygen, nutrients, organic matter, inorganic suspended matter, heavy metals, bacteria and organic micro-pollutants, to complex algae and macrophyte dynamics. High performance solvers enable the simulation of long periods, often required to capture the full cycles of the processes being modelled.

The finite volume approach underlying DELWAQ allows it to be coupled to both the structured grid hydrodynamics of the current Delft3D-FLOW engine and the upcoming D-Flow Flexible Mesh engine (1D-2D-3D) of the Delft3D Flexible Mesh Suite (or even other models such as TELEMAC).

'DELWAQ in open source' is our invitation to all leading experts to collaborate in further development and research in the field of water quality, ecology and morphology using Delft3D. Feel free to post your DELWAQ related questions or comments in this dedicated forum space. If you are new to DELWAQ, the tutorial (in the user manual) is a good place to start. A list of DELWAQ related publications is available here.

Hi! I'm trying to run a oil spill in PART module, but it keeps giving me the message of error sayig that it can't find de delpar.exe.

I downloaded for my repository folder the 5425 tag file, and I copied the Part package from there to Delft main folder, but still nothing (I don't know if I need to compile thos files, and how I do this)

I also found here in forum the part_gui.zip from Michel Jeuken, but don't worked either.

I don't know what to do, someone can help me, please?!

Thanks!!

Ps: Attached have all informations of my Delft, Files at PART module it were the original files that I had in PART folder and PART files shows the files that I downloaded from the tag 5425.

This is probably due to the fact that you have built the executable programs yet. If you obtain the Delft3D modules via the open source repository, that is what you are supposed to do.

Hi Arjen, I'm trying to compile the tag 5425, but Visual Studio returns 11 errors and 369 warnings.
My Visual Studio is a 2015 version and Intel Fortran Compiler 16.0

That is odd, as omp_lib.h is part of the Intel Fortran compiler. We use the configuration you describe all the time and cannot remember having seen such messages.

Possible solutions or diagnostic steps:

  • The error messages seem to be related, at least in part, to the compiler directives in this source file. Check that the /fpp option is on.
  • Is DELPAR The first module you are building? Try building another module. Does that work?
  • Make sure you are using the "64 bits" build configuration. We have dropped support for 32-bits, so it may be that you are hitting discrepancies between the various build options used for the configurations. (I have recently built a 32-bits version of D-Water Quality/DELWAQ without seeing such problems, so you may simply be unlucky that there is a discrepancy for DELPAR.)
  • Are you building on Windows 10? Although I use that platform too, there seems to be a chance of problems - I have no specifics, but we should not exclude this beforehand
  • It might be that there is something wrong with the installation of Visual Studio and/or Intel Fortran. That is a long shot, but try to reinstall the two: first VS, then Intel Fortran.
Well, those are a few suggestions. Hope this helps.

I am sorry to hear that - can you at least enlighten us with the error messages you get?

In Visual Studio it keeps the same error I mentioned before, but in Delft3D, it could not find the folder.
As I'm out of time in my master's degree, I asked a friend if he has the delpar.exe file. And the part of Delft3D, it was only because in the module folder PART, it only had a bin32 folder, but was looking for a bin folder.

Thank you for your time and attention, but on this subject everything is fine here now!
