intro story DELWAQ

DELWAQ

DELWAQ is the engine of the D-Water Quality and D-Ecology programmes of the Delft3D suite. It is based on a rich library from which relevant substances and processes can be selected to quickly put water and sediment quality models together.

The processes library covers many aspects of water quality and ecology, from basic tracers, dissolved oxygen, nutrients, organic matter, inorganic suspended matter, heavy metals, bacteria and organic micro-pollutants, to complex algae and macrophyte dynamics. High performance solvers enable the simulation of long periods, often required to capture the full cycles of the processes being modelled.

The finite volume approach underlying DELWAQ allows it to be coupled to both the structured grid hydrodynamics of the current Delft3D-FLOW engine and the upcoming D-Flow Flexible Mesh engine (1D-2D-3D) of the Delft3D Flexible Mesh Suite (or even other models such as TELEMAC).

'DELWAQ in open source' is our invitation to all leading experts to collaborate in further development and research in the field of water quality, ecology and morphology using Delft3D. Feel free to post your DELWAQ related questions or comments in this dedicated forum space. If you are new to DELWAQ, the tutorial (in the user manual) is a good place to start. A list of DELWAQ related publications is available here.

error about using space varying wind and pressure in additonal parameters

In my simualtion, I provide the space varying wind and pressure using the addtional parameters in Delft3D-FLOW. When I run it, there is a problem. In the diagnosis file,it is read:
"*** WARNING File will not be created - Inconsistent comm. file times
*** ERROR Flow point outside meteo grid (x-dir) x,y,: -1.0 0.0
*** ERROR Flow exited abnormally "
Could someone help me ?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Ming Zhou,

The full FLOW grid must be covered by the meteo grid.
The error says that there is a point in the FLOW grid (x=-1.0, y=0.0) that is not covered by the meteo grid.

The manual contains detailed information for each type of meteo file that can be used as input. Please read it carefully.

Adri

Hi all

I created my meteofiles using excel and converted into ascii file acoording to the Delft3D-WAVE manual. When I try to use I am getting following error.

Error in meteo module: Error reading block in meteo_on_equidistant_grid file in colnr, rownr : 1 3
Stopping WAVE computation.

I am including my meteofiles here. Please help me.

Hi, Everyone

I got this error when i try to run a flow model with space varying wind

*** ERROR Flow point outside meteo grid (x-dir) x,y,:     914.3     652.2
it's a little bit confusing because my flow grid didn't last until that position/coordinate

could someone help me to solve this problem

Thanks.

Regards, Giovanni

Hello Giovanni,

I'm having the same problem. Could you share how you solved the problem?
Thank you very much.

Best regards,

Vinicius
