intro story DELWAQ
DELWAQDELWAQ is the engine of the D-Water Quality and D-Ecology programmes of the Delft3D suite. It is based on a rich library from which relevant substances and processes can be selected to quickly put water and sediment quality models together. The processes library covers many aspects of water quality and ecology, from basic tracers, dissolved oxygen, nutrients, organic matter, inorganic suspended matter, heavy metals, bacteria and organic micro-pollutants, to complex algae and macrophyte dynamics. High performance solvers enable the simulation of long periods, often required to capture the full cycles of the processes being modelled. The finite volume approach underlying DELWAQ allows it to be coupled to both the structured grid hydrodynamics of the current Delft3D-FLOW engine and the upcoming D-Flow Flexible Mesh engine (1D-2D-3D) of the Delft3D Flexible Mesh Suite (or even other models such as TELEMAC). 'DELWAQ in open source' is our invitation to all leading experts to collaborate in further development and research in the field of water quality, ecology and morphology using Delft3D. Feel free to post your DELWAQ related questions or comments in this dedicated forum space. If you are new to DELWAQ, the tutorial (in the user manual) is a good place to start. transects definition
I am working with WAQ and the coupling with Dflow-FM (unstruc).
I' ve been trying to define transects in WAQ.
As Arjen Markus advise me I set in the .inp file
1 ; monitoring transects
1 ; Number of transects
'Transect 1' 8 253 56 100 57 145 56 203 ;eight exchanges and their indexes
So how do I define my exchange index?
My .poi file is [6 112715] (That is the Number of exchanges 1st direction : 112715), however when
I try to set it my waq the .lst file comes full of this
ERROR exchange in transect out of range.
raai number : 1
follow number : 70
exchamge number : 0
How do I define the transects position?
So how do I define my exchange index of a transect?
Another confusing point is that my DFlow gives me 141555 netlinks, that is where the cells comunicates and WAQ calculates 112715, why is that diferent?
Thanks

Then look in section 2.5 of the manual on the description of the input file. There you see how your input file should look like. You must devide your transect in 2 transect. One with the exchange numbers that have the 'from' volumes at the correct side of the interface and one with the exchange number that have them at the other side. The result is obtained by summing both contributions but with a minus sign for the second transect. Tedious, there is room for improvement, but it should work.
Good luck,
Leo
