intro story DELWAQ
DELWAQDELWAQ is the engine of the D-Water Quality and D-Ecology programmes of the Delft3D suite. It is based on a rich library from which relevant substances and processes can be selected to quickly put water and sediment quality models together. The processes library covers many aspects of water quality and ecology, from basic tracers, dissolved oxygen, nutrients, organic matter, inorganic suspended matter, heavy metals, bacteria and organic micro-pollutants, to complex algae and macrophyte dynamics. High performance solvers enable the simulation of long periods, often required to capture the full cycles of the processes being modelled. The finite volume approach underlying DELWAQ allows it to be coupled to both the structured grid hydrodynamics of the current Delft3D-FLOW engine and the upcoming D-Flow Flexible Mesh engine (1D-2D-3D) of the Delft3D Flexible Mesh Suite (or even other models such as TELEMAC). 'DELWAQ in open source' is our invitation to all leading experts to collaborate in further development and research in the field of water quality, ecology and morphology using Delft3D. Feel free to post your DELWAQ related questions or comments in this dedicated forum space. If you are new to DELWAQ, the tutorial (in the user manual) is a good place to start. Coupling WAVE and FLOW: extend or do not extend?
Youngling Posts: 21 Join Date: 4/20/11 Recent PostsI'm now studying coupling wave and flow (tide+wind actions) models.
Please, may you explain me wht is the difference between the options in Hydrodynamics: a) don't use b) use but don't extend c) use and extend ?
I believe that don't use is that you do not consider any coupling, but I do not understand what is the real difference between b) and c). I'm trying and exploring differences running different test.
Moreover, how can I introduce time varying wave conditions usin the flow coupling? I cannot find any place where I can do that (Time frame options desappear if I use coupling flow+wave)
Thank you very much for any help
Best regards

RE: Coupling WAVE and FLOW: extend or do not extend?
Youngling Posts: 21 Join Date: 4/20/11 Recent PostsI saw that generating a TPAR file is the best way to incorporate time varying wave boundary conditions. The problem is that the firs time you have to modify manually the .mdw file as written in the manual, then a new botton appears in the GUI.
As regards the use and extend I'm trying... (see manual p.26 at the end) but it is not totally clear to me
cheers
