intro story DELWAQ

DELWAQ

DELWAQ is the engine of the D-Water Quality and D-Ecology programmes of the Delft3D suite. It is based on a rich library from which relevant substances and processes can be selected to quickly put water and sediment quality models together.

The processes library covers many aspects of water quality and ecology, from basic tracers, dissolved oxygen, nutrients, organic matter, inorganic suspended matter, heavy metals, bacteria and organic micro-pollutants, to complex algae and macrophyte dynamics. High performance solvers enable the simulation of long periods, often required to capture the full cycles of the processes being modelled.

The finite volume approach underlying DELWAQ allows it to be coupled to both the structured grid hydrodynamics of the current Delft3D-FLOW engine and the upcoming D-Flow Flexible Mesh engine (1D-2D-3D) of the Delft3D Flexible Mesh Suite (or even other models such as TELEMAC).

'DELWAQ in open source' is our invitation to all leading experts to collaborate in further development and research in the field of water quality, ecology and morphology using Delft3D. Feel free to post your DELWAQ related questions or comments in this dedicated forum space. If you are new to DELWAQ, the tutorial (in the user manual) is a good place to start. A list of DELWAQ related publications is available here.

Progress Monitor Window does not show

Hi!

To start, I am using the Delft3D GUI 4.01.01.rc.03 on a Windows 10 personal laptop.

I am trying to run the TIDE examples in the tutorial folder, and the analysis (for all subsystems Analysis, Prediction, Hilow, etc) don't seem to run. The Progress Monitor Window doesn't show as it's supposed to, so I have no idea on what stage of the analysis it is, if it even started at all. However, when I check the Task Manager, Tidal Analysis and Prediction of Tides (32 bit) is listed there as part of background processes. I waited if the output files will eventually be printed, but after an hour the output files were not generated.

I wonder if anyone else encountered this, and what you did to fix it.

Sincerely,
Marjorie

I have similar problem. Did you make it work somehow? If so, please do tell me.

Or if any administrators could please help us shed some light with this problem. Thank you very much.

Hi Niño,

I have not run TIDE since I posted this. But I ran it today, and it worked. It's been a while since I encountered the error before, I really cannot tell what was different that led to the change in result. Anyway, if it helps, I am attaching a sample of Analysis inputs.

The .obs file consists tide levels at 10-minute intervals for Feb 1, 2016 00:00 to Feb 29, 2016 23:50.

In the .ina file, I considered 0 coupling, 1 instrument, and 1 subseries

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Marjorie

Hello,

I wonder if anyone found what the problem was? I am having the same problem. I go into the subsystem "analysis" and click on the input files (from the tutorial folder) and click on "Start Analysis", but nothing happens..

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Gabriel
