Problems in coupling Flow/Wave with Delwaq

Hi,

I have been able to couple Flow with Delwaq using the previously generated communication file, which use to have many time steps (according to the defined storage intervals in the .mdf file).
Now I need my hydrodynamic results to include also the waves, so I have run both Flow and Wave modules using online coupling. The problem is that, although I have defined several storage intervals, the generated communication file has 1 time step only (during the simulation the results are overwritten so when it finishes I have the results for the last time step only). Because the communication file has only 1 time step, I am not able to do the coupling with Delwaq, as start and stop times are equal, with a zero time step.

How can I do the coupling with Delwaq when adding waves to the hydrodynamics?

Hi,
I have just found an answer in the forum saying that the FLOW output files and .hyd file can be used directly in WAQ. So I presume that in my .scn file setup I just have to select the .hyd file (which is generated at the beginning of FLOW run) and I will be using all the hydrodynamics information, including the waves.

From my understanding, when NOT using waves in FLOW we can either couple the com-file after the FLOW simulation has ended or use the FLOW output files and .hyd file directly in WAQ. Are these two procedures exactly equivalent regarding the WAQ results?

You are almost completely correct.

The only difference is that the old route where you convert from a com-*.dat file using 'coupling', by default the coupling program makes sure that the minimum volume is 1.0. With the direct writing of the files for WAQ, there is no minimum.
