Good Afternoon,

I am getting the following error along the entire length of my flow boundary:

*** ERROR Curvi-linear coefficient GUU at 1362 2 = 0, while point is active

I do not understand why I would be getting this error. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong? The grid node spacing in my computational grid is 1mx1m. I have attached the diagnostic file to this message to provide extra information.

Hi Jessica,

This problem is likely caused by a known issue in Delft3D-FLOW 3.61.00.12401 dated Aug 26 2010, which predates the open source release. From our bug tracking system, I conclude that the problem only occurs if there are more than 998 open boundary cells and that it has been solved in Delft3D-FLOW 3.61.00.13327.

It seems that the 4.00.00 and 4.00.01 Delft3D releases with precompiled executables still include the old delftflow.exe with version number 3.61.00.12401. However, if you run a simulation via the user interface it should use the deltares_hydro.exe and flow2d3d.dll which are of later date, so it seems that you are starting your simulation via a batch file. I would recommend to call deltares_hydro.exe from your batch file rather than delftflow.exe. If there is a specific reason to stick with the delftflow.exe, please contact Delft3D support to request the 3.61.00.13327 version (refer to this post for context).

Hi Bert,

First of all thank you for your reply. I realize now that I have to update the version of the code that I am running in order to fix the problem.
I am running the Windows version of the code that was purchased over a year ago, which I received on a disk. Since then I have only updated the license file that have been sent to me from Deltares via email correspondence. In order to update the version of the code, do I have to download the open source code and compile it? If so, how would I take the compiled code and replace the older files that I installed from a disk?

Hi Bert,
I ran into a similar issue, except my case is slightly different. I have a working case, 447x362 grid spacing 50 m. I want to make a dry points file, which I have done. There are 714 lines to this file, approximately half my domain is dry. When I run the same working case with this dry points file, it crashes with the same error. " ERROR Curvi-linear coefficient GUU at 33 1 = 0, while point is active." (same for GUV)

Any ideas?

Are there any other know circumstances for this type of error message? I am running a coupled FLOW-WAVE simulation using domain decomposition, but my most recent adjustments resulted in many of these error messages:

*** ERROR Curvi-linear coefficient GVV   at     2   35 = 0, while point is active
*** ERROR Curvi-linear coefficient GVV   at     3   35 = 0, while point is active
*** ERROR Curvi-linear coefficient GVV   at     4   35 = 0, while point is active... and so on

I am using FLOW trunk version 6.02.12.7430 on a linux machine. This only seems to happen for one of the domains, but I see nothing different about it. I'm happy to share any files if they'll be helpful. Thank you in advance!
