PPrLim - correction flux algae growth

Hi,

first of all: a happy new year to everyone!

During the set-up of my substance file in the PLCT (WAQ, not ECO), I can choose between two options for "numerical maximum flux" in the process "uptake of nutrients by growth of algae". One is constant, the other one is PPrLim.
I'm not sure if I understand correctly which mathematical formulation is activated in case I choose PPrLim. Is it the formulation in chapter 4.4 for the primary production rates corrected for the availability of nutrients?
If so, is it reasonable to set it to a constant value?

Thanks a lot,
Ingrid

Hi Ingrid,

The process PPRLIM indeed restricts the primary production based on the availibility of the nutrients as described in chapter 4.4. The process should always be activated and you should not use a constant value here, otherwise you will not get the actual uptake.

(the reason that pprlim is a seperate proces is because the primary production of greens and diatoms are calculated seperately but the sum of the production should not exceed the availeble amount of nutrients)

happy new year to you too!
