Dispersion array files (.dsp)

Hi all,

I'm trying to build a .dsp file in order to generate variable dispersion coefficients in a curvilinear grid. I've alredy read the manuals and I've obtained de .asc file that you need to know the number of overridings and their names. Finally, you need to write the new dispersion value.

Regarding the .asc file, I would like to ask if anyone know what does it mean the column 6 and 7 lenghts? I'm a bit confussed about what distances are given in this two columns. Furthermore, is it possible to know to which cell corresponds any overriding in the .asc file?

Thanks in advance and regards,
Javi

Hi Javier,

The length-from and length-to columns indicate the lengths between the from an to segment centers to their common exchange area. It is used to compute dispersion fluxes between those two segments.

Dispersion coefficients are defined on exchanges (i.e. the interface between two segments). The exchange numbers are as shown in the pointer file (the .asc file you mentioned). First line is first exchange, etc...

Hope this helps.

Hi Christophe,

It helps a lot... I am only ask to be sure about the distances. Now, I can build my own dispersion file with spatial variable dispersion.

Thanks!
