Water Level Change too high

Hello, i am trying to model flow in a strait, therefore i made grid according to land boundary file and depth generated from delft dashboard. until this step, the modelling can be run just fine (although the water level is strangely very small, such as -3.03E-15 m.. the problem appears when i tried to add the open boundary which is water level astronomical with tidal constituent data also from delft dashboard. i suspect the error comes from the boundary that i make. can anybody help? i have attached all the files i used in this modelling.

Many Thanks

Hi Niku,

Yes, it is related the boundary conditions you specified.

Coastal models are all about boundary conditions. The expertises are all related to this. For example, refer to http://oss.deltares.nl/web/delft3d/coast-/-estuary/-/message_boards/view_message/91262/maximized#_19_message_420704.

Maybe joining one of Deltares courses will help a bit as well. Refer to http://www.dsd-int.nl/2016/ or https://www.deltares.nl/en/academy/.

I hope this can be a little bit helpful.

Hi Qing Hua,

Thank you for your advice. actually i've solved the problem that is i use cartesian coordinates while i should use spherical coordinates for the grid. and it makes the grid has very low resolution and therefore make the courant number very high.

Niku
