Lake

Lakes and reservoirs are important resources for communities around the globe. They provide food, drinking and irrigation water and can also offer spots for recreation. Under certain conditions lakes can also represent a threat for local communities, such as flooding or limnic eruptions. The ecological state of shallow lakes may be hampered by suspended sediments due to wind driven currents and waves. In deep lakes, stratification can cause undesirable anoxic conditions in the deeper areas. Understanding these systems is crucial to enable a sound management of these water bodies.

DD boundaries & samples interpolation for bathymetry

Hi,

I'm actually trying to separate my lake in different parts, as some of them need a more refined mesh than others, with DD bounaries.

After i created my project in rgfgrid, I import it in quickin. For my bathymetry, I interpolate my samples (colored dots on my attachment) with triangular interpolation.

Here is where my problem happens. The interpolation works on the central part (the more refined, see attachment), but doesn't work properly on the other parts of my project. There, only some strips are interpolated and the results are poor. Other interpolation methods work (like grid cell averaging or internal diffusion), but are not enough efficient to give good results on their own. The interpolation works fine when all the parts are together without the DD boundaries (and thus the same refinement).

Does anybody have an idea where this problem comes from and how to fix it? I couldn't find any answer in manuals nor in this forum.

I attached a print screen and although my project if someone wants to have a more precise look at it.

Roger, hi.

I'm actually not an expert in Domain Decomposition, but I guess something is wrong with DD-boundaries (maybe?). The interpolation works well as you can see on the screenshots, though I have no idea how to save these depths (after saving them and than re-opening they become distorted as on your picture).

Roger,

I've managed to save all depths except one the most refined in centre (not interpolating very good because of few samples here). Have a look at them. All made with triangular interpolation.
