intro story Lake

Lake

Lakes and reservoirs are important resources for communities around the globe. They provide food, drinking and irrigation water and can also offer spots for recreation. Under certain conditions lakes can also represent a threat for local communities, such as flooding or limnic eruptions. The ecological state of shallow lakes may be hampered by suspended sediments due to wind driven currents and waves. In deep lakes, stratification can cause undesirable anoxic conditions in the deeper areas. Understanding these systems is crucial to enable a sound management of these water bodies.

Delft3D is the state-of-the-art modelling framework for hydrodynamics, water quality, ecology, waves and morphology.

Here, in this space, we share knowledge & experiences, and discuss issues related to modelling of lakes.

I have done a hydrodynamic simulation for a lake for 10 years. The result is very strange : the water level keeps growing for ten years, from 10m to 160m. In general , the water level is 5m-20m. Can you help me solve the problems . thank you.

Hi,

I would recommend looking closely at your boundary conditions for flow into and out of your lake. Perhaps if you provide some more information about your model (particularly the boundary conditions) people may be able to help you further.

Cheers,
Richard

There can be many reasons for the rising water level. For example, the water level in a lake changes depending on the amount of precipitation, the amount of evaporated water and the movement of tectonic plates, which lead to a change in the topography of the lake's bottom form. I think you should take advantage of the research paper writing service. Perhaps experts will be able to say something more accurately.

The grid generation parts in D-Flow FM are standard grid generation techniques for either curvilinear grids, triangular grids or 2D networks. D-Flow FM does not For this reason a model with a flexible computation mesh is desired. D-Flow FM is still in development and the technology used in D-Flow FM has not yet been.
