Issue with Rainfall Specification with new .ext file

Youngling Posts: 4 Join Date: 11/10/20 Recent Posts
Hi.
I am using the CLI of D-Flow FM version 1.2.105.67514M.I want to simulate rainfall over the whole model area with time series data so I tried using the new external enforcing file with a .bc file to specify the time series. (The .ext, .bc, and .mdu files can be found in the attachments)
In the .bc file I tried specifying the time series precipitation data in seconds since the model start date (the same as the .mdu file). However, I am receiving an error saying that the Requested time preceeds current forcing EC-timelevel.
I am unable to understand the problem here and would be grateful for any help understanding the problem.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Veethahavya.

Veethahavya,
Check your .mdu file, Tzone should be in the range (-12 +12).Regards,Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,
Thank you very much. That solved the issue. However now I have another problem that I do not understand and would be grateful for any help/insight.
As you may see in the screen snips, I have specified certain rainfall for different timesteps and activated rainfall calculation in the MDU file but the rainfall is neither being reflected in the model run results as water levels nor is it considered by the model I think as during the model initialisation it says the model volume is 0.

Hi Veethahavya,
To be honest with you, I’ve never done a simulation including rainfall.
Looking at your .mdu file, I see that the only external forcing is rainfall. Is this correct?
Regarding the model volume, verify that the bottom level of your grid is compatible with the initial water level in your .mdu (WaterLevIni = 0).
On the other hand, check that if you use Tzone != 0 (not zero) , time series of external forcing should be shifted from the simulation time according to Tzone (see manual).
Hope it helps.
Sebastian.

Hi Sebastian,
The problem was with the initial water levels as you pointed out. Thank you very much!
I wish you a nice week ahead.
Cheers,
Veethahavya.
