ERROR Premature EOF in file (roughness file)

Youngling Posts: 1 Join Date: 5/16/16 Recent Posts
I am in the process of trying to create a roughness grid, but keep getting this error message when I try to run the model.

So far I have exported the roughness grid in QUICKIN into a .dep file and then opened it in a text editor and copied and pasted the file so that it is twice the size (to create roughness in both the N and M direction) to create a .rgh file (See attached).

Would appreciate any advice as to why I keep getting the message 'ERROR Premature EOF in file'?

Thanks,

Jenna

Dear Jenna,

I have to say I myself do not have much experience with QUICKIN but what you refer to suggest you are working with structured grid (M and N direction), perhaps with old Delft3D 4.
In the Delft3D Flexible Mesh we work with unstructured grid and for that QUICKIN does not have a support.
If you want to work with roughness grid (spatially varying roughness) you will have to use Graphical User Interface from Delft3D Flexible Mesh, so called DeltaShell. In the User Manual, in the chapter 4.4.9.2 you have a description how to do that in DeltaShell. In general, you could use some other spatial editor and then deliver a proper file to the Delft3D Flexible Mesh (Import in DeltaShell).

If your question does relate to the old Delf3D 4 Suite (structured) then please post on this forum: Delft3D 4 Suite - forum you will then certainly get an elaborated answer.

For further questions please don't hesitate to write here.

Kind regards,
Michal
