The Netherlands Hydrological Instrument (NHI) is the collection of software and data for developing groundwater and surface water models for the Netherlands on a national and regional scale. The NHI is intended to combine the knowledge of specialists at water managers, institutes and consultancy firms in order to arrive at high-quality instruments and data.

iMOD is part of the toolbox NHI and Deltares has an executive role in the maintenance and further development of the modelcode and pre- and postprocessing tools. Deltares works closely with other knowledge institutions, like Wageningen Environmental research, consultants and a consortium of clients.
