Hey Gayatri,

I had the same problem, so I once I figured it out I wrote a short manual for my colleges, this might help you too. What you need is the program qGIS. This is an open source version of ARCGIS easily accessible.

How to convert a point .shp into a .ipf:

1. Load the .shp in qGIS
2. Save as CSV file (to generate the right coordinates voor excel), make sure the same coordinate system as your iMOD model is selected!
3. Open the CSV file with excel and create a new column in the Excel file with the following formula:

=A2&", "&B2&", "&C2

A = x-coordinate
B = y-coordinate
C = Discharge (if needed)

4. Create random .ips in iMOD or copy an existing .ips file
5. Open randon .ips file with notepad and delete the content
6. Enter at the top of the file:

0, txt

this means:

100 (#no of Wells)
3 (#no of columns)
x (First column)
y (Second column)
Q (Third column)

7. Paste the coordinate data from the excel sheet below

You can now add the point file in iMOD and it should contain all the points from your shapefile.

I hope this helps!
